New VW Jetta
The New VW Jetta is Volkswagen’s sister car for the Golf. designed originally for the American market who dislike hatchbacks, the Jetta is effectively a Golf saloon car with a larger boot added, and is almost a mini Passat. While it doesn’t sell in as great numbers as the Golf does in the UK, the model is still a popular choice, combining all the best parts of the brand, with Volkswagens traditional build quality, conservative yet classy styling and reliability built in. The engine range and trim levels are very similar to the Golf, as do prices. |

VW Jetta 1.4 TSI
The VW Jetta 1.4 TSI is the smallest engine in the range, but by no means the least powerful, with a choice of either 122 or 160 bhp available, a staggering output from a 1.4 and is due to the twin turbo and supercharger arrangement. while a 1.4 doesn’t sound much, this is a fantastic engine, being more powerful, more refined and much more economical than the older 1.6 that it has replaced, giving an average of 44.8 mpg. The DSG Automatic version is available in the higher 160 bhp version. |

VW Jetta 1.9 TDI Diesel
The VW Jetta 1.9 TDI motor has been a stalwart in the Volkswagen range for many years now. It comes with 105 bhp and has good surge of mid range torque and delivers late 40’s mpg fuel economy. The engine is starting to show its age a little when compared to the newer more expensive 2.0 diesels, and can be a little rattly from a cold start and diesel clatter can be heard if really pushed hard, but the 1.9 TDI Diesel is a budget offering, and a fair bit cheaper than the 2.0 diesel, and is available in the basic S or mid range SE trim manual only. |

VW Jetta 2.0 TDI Diesel
The VW Jetta 2.0 TDI diesel unit is a much newer design than the 1.9, and features common rail fuel injection, which gives more power, better economy and a much smoother and more refined motor. There is a choice of either 140 bhp which is more than enough for this size car, or the more powerful 170 bhp version which is seriously fast. On both cars the mid range torque allows effortless overtaking without the need to rev the engine. Fuel economy figures are around the 51 mpg mark on the combined run, and a DSG automatic version is available in the 140 bhp car. |

VW Jetta Bluemotion
The VW Jetta Bluemotion is Volkswagen’s fuel efficient version of the model. based on the standard 1.9 TDI diesel engine, but with several tweaks to eek out the best fuel economy with the lowest emissions. The Bluemotion is given low rolling resistance wheels and tyres, (meaning a set of small alloys), changes to the ECU to make the engine more efficient and cleaner, it is lowered slightly and has a set of higher gear ratios for the top 3 gears, so when you’re cruising at motorway speeds, the engine isn’t turning over as fast, so less fuel used. CO2 is down and fuel economy rises by about 5mpg. The Bluemotion models are available in either the S or SE trim for a slight premium over the std cars. |
